A.P. MAGIC : A.P. Indy - Magicalmysterycat by Storm Cat

A.P. Indy has also sired four stakes winners, two of them grade one out of mares by Alydar, like Mr. Prospector, a son of Raise a Native. That line could be tried through Centenary and Houston Connection (by a son of Alydar out of a three-parts-sister to A.P. Indy).

A.P. Indy has also done extremely well over mares descending from the other great sire line of the current era, that of Northern Dancer. Potential broodmare sires include National Assembly, National Emblem, Announce, Joshua Dancer, Alami (who gives clever inbreeding to Seattle Slew), Modern Day, Orpen, Shoe Danzig, Qui Danzi, Lustra, Allied Flag (from the family of A.P. Indy's Champion Mineshaft), Freedom Land, Lizard Island (giving inbreeding to the family of Storm Cat), all from the Danzig line; Royal Academy (giving inbreeding to Storm Cat's family), Russian Fox and Dancing Champ (broodmare sire of an A.P. Indy line grade one winner), from the Nijinsky II line; Elliodor and Model Man, from the Lyphard line; Cordoba (by El Gran Senor); Wolfhound (giving inbreeding to the family of A.P. Indy), Russian Revival and Caesour, from the Nureyev line; Fort Wood, Casey Tibbs, Dolpour and Braashee from the Sadler's Wells line; and Tara's Halls, Anytime, Second Empire, Almushtarak and Encosta de Lago (all by Sadler's Wells' brother, Fairy King). Northern Dancer might also be brought in through Northern Guest, Rambo Dancer, Rakeen (sire of Jet Master), Northfields and Mistral Dancer.

The cross of A.P. Indy over mares from the Turn-to/Hail to Reason line has been a less prolific one, but has produced some top-class individuals. Al Mufti (by Roberto), is half-brother to the dam of A.P. Indy, and is already broodmare sire of grade one winner Jay Peg (by a son of A.P. Indy). A similar cross could be achieved with Al Mufti's close relative Shuailaan. The broad A.P. Indy cross with Roberto line mares has been a good one, and could also be tried with Labeeb (by Lear Fan). A.P. Indy has sired grade one winner and successful young sire, Stephen Got Even, out of a mare by Cox's Ridge, a grandson of Turn-to, from the Best Turn branch. This cross could be emulated with mares by Best By Test. A.P. Indy's South African son, Camden Park also sired a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Damascus Gate, and a stakes winner out of mare by Folmar (by Forli, who is also sire of Home Guard and Fordham – who both give linebreeding to the family of Seattle Slew – and in the male line of Golden Thatch). It could also pay to consider mares by Sportsworld (from the same family as A.P. Indy) and Argosy (half-brother to Seattle Slew).
