WEST ORDER
Gone West - Irish Order, by Irish River (FR)

Gone West's son, Western Winter has sired three grade one winners out of mares by Dancing Champ, a son of Nijinsky II. This line might also be brought in through Royal Academy or Russian Fox. There has also been an extremely successful cross of Gone West over mares descending from The Minstrel (three-parts-brother to Nijinsky II), including a South African graded winner out of a mare by Palace Music. Out of mares from the Lyphard line there are Gone West line mares from daughters of Elliodor (sire of Model Man) and Trigger Finger. The Gone West cross of mares from the Danzig line has been a prolific one, and could be tried through such as National Assembly, Noble Ambition (broodmare sire of a graded stakes winner by a son of Gone West), National Emblem, Announce, Dayjur (very good under Gone West), Modern Day, Joshua Dancer, Alami, Orpen, Shoe Danzig, Qui Danzig, Lustra, Allied Flag, Freedom Land and Lizard Island.

It would also be worth considering the Storm Bird branch of Northern Dancer, which could be brought in through Opera King, or from the Storm Cat line through Mogok, Portrush or the young stallion Var. Other Northern Dancer sources include Northfields (broodmare sire of a Gone West line graded stakes winner), Cordoba (by El Gran Senor), Northern Guest, Rambo Dancer, Rakeen (sire of Jet Master), and Mistral Dancer.

Gone West is a son of Mr. Prospector, a genetic relative to Alydar, and that line could be brought in through Centerary and Houston Connection. Alydar gives linebreeding to the outstanding mare, Two Lea, and Best Turn is out of Miz Clementine, a sister to Two Lea. He is sire of Best By Test (broodmare sire of a Gone West line graded stakes winner). There is a graded stakes winner by All Fired Up, whose sire, Timeless Moment (by Damascus) is out of a genetic relative to Mr. Prosepctor. The Damascus line could also be brought in through Damascus Gate.

Looking at more outcross strains, in South Africa, the Gone West line has enjoyed success with Averof and his sons, Foveros and Priceless Asset; Royal Prerogative and his son Royal Chalice; Golden Thatch; Kenmare and Del Sarto.
